Big Breakthroughs

We've had a couple of big breakthroughs in the last few weeks.

First, Skadi is (sort of) learning to sit on her own. She can sit up, unaided, for a few seconds before she goes toppling forward onto her face.

Skadi has also started eating. She's learning to open her mouth to eat, which (believe it or not) is an improvement.

Skadi's First Camping Trip

Skadi took her first camping trip over Memorial Day. She did GREAT! She slept 7-8 hours straight at night, and she didn't really get too cranky.

This first photo is at the end of the weekend, so she hadn't bathes in quite some time and she's looking all moutainy.

The second photo is of us on a hike. She can peek out of her ergo and look around (but I am looking forward to being able to put her on my back).

And the third photo is of Skadi chilling at the campsite. I added the fourth photo, just b/c it is so beautiful. It was a great weekend!

We were just given this chair by one of Mike's friends. So far, Skadi loves it!

Most pathetic thing ever

Maceo is definitely miserable. But he may be milking this whole thing too.

Poor poor Maceo

Maceo has had a rough spring. About a month ago, he and Mike and Skadi were out for a hike, when Maceo decided to charge downhill after a rabbit. He hit an berm going full speed downhill and ended up tearing all the ligaments in his front left wrist/ankle. He needed surgery, which he had yesterday. He spent last night at the doggy hospital and we picked him up this morning.

So here he is, resting in my office. His recovery period is LONG -- 3 months to recover physically, and then another few months to re-learn to use his front paw. So everyone send Maceo good thoughts and wishes!!!!

Skadi LOVES to read

We were home in Minnesota this weekend, and my sister got Baby Skadi a book called "In My Tree." We've read to Skadi in the past, but she never seemed really into it, so we sort of let it fall by the wayside. She was just too little to really pay any attention to the books.

Things have changed. Skadi LOVES books now. She was really enthralled by this book, as you can see by the photos. I think these photos are so funny -- she is really trying to figure out what is going on in the book. Needless to say, we'll be reading to her a lot from now on.

Shaved and cold Maceo

Maceo got shaved yesterday (his yearly summer shearing). He gets so cold when he is shaved, and he was so exhausted from the stress of being at the groomers all day. So we covered him up with a blanket and let him sleep the night away on the couch.

We love him so much.

BD Skadi

Skadi had a big day today. She got up and went climbing in her Black Diamond onesy. It's really hard to rock climb when you can barely hold up your head.

Chillin on Easter

Hanging around the house after Easter church and brunch. We made it 45 minutes through the Easter service before we had to leave -- she got all squirmy, and then spit up all over my shirt (and hers). So I figured it was a good first try at church and then called it a day. We rewarded ourselves afterwards by changing out of our Easter clothes and into some comfy pajamas and then we had some snuggly couch time.

She loves her baths!

She gets all loungey in there. And it is so funny to see how small she is compared to a regular-sized washcloth.

And then post bath, we wrap her up in her snuggly towel, and give her a massage with lavender lotion and put her to bed! I'd like the whole ritual if I were here too!

Breakfast System

Check out our new system -- Skadi gets to have brunch with us, and sit in the middle of all the action! She loves that Bumpo (the pink thing helping her sit up). We eventually took her out of it and put her in her car seat during this breakfast, b/c she fell asleep while sitting there. She was all slumped over, sleeping with her thumb in her mouth.
