Too Tempting

She's happy in her helmet!

It took some adjustment time, but she seems pretty happy, with or without the helmet!

Getting her grub on

Skadi LOVES her food. Peas and brown rice (mixed together) is her favorite, or maybe mac and cheese, but she seems to be perfectly happy with her carrots here as well.

Hike to the Living Room

Mike and I took a hike to the Living Room in the foothills this weekend. Skadi had a great time (but it was really hot!).

Hike up Twin Lakes Pass

A few weeks ago, my two friends Karen and LeeAnn took a hike with Skadi and me up to Twin Lakes pass. Karen took some wonderful pictures of little Skadi getting after it.

Skadi needs a helmet!

Skadi will be wearing a helmet for the next few months, to reshape her somewhat flat head. Here she is getting fitted for it. She maintained good spirits through most of the ordeal.

Skadi celebrating her first Pioneer Day

Every year, Utahns celebrate Pioneer Day on July 24th. This year, Skadi got very excited for the fireworks (as you can see from these pictures). Unfortunately, she didn't stay awake long enough to see them. Maybe next year!

Bath time at the cabin!!! These photos were so cute, I couldn't figure out which ones to post and which ones to not post. So I posted them all!

July 4th Week at the Cabin

We just returned from a week at the cabin in Northern MN, for the Fourth of July.


The week started out by Skadi and Daddy chillaxing at Mom's house in MN.

Once we got to the cabin, Skadi rode around on my sister's tummy, sporting some cool sunglasses. She also went swimming in our baby pool (I can't get that photo turned the right way, I don't know why).

Finally, we went for boat rides (where Skadi hung out in a basket or on my lap), and we hung out on the dock (where Skadi hung out in a skiing tube). Don't worry, we didn't actually take her tubing!!!

Big Breakthroughs

We've had a couple of big breakthroughs in the last few weeks.

First, Skadi is (sort of) learning to sit on her own. She can sit up, unaided, for a few seconds before she goes toppling forward onto her face.

Skadi has also started eating. She's learning to open her mouth to eat, which (believe it or not) is an improvement.

Skadi's First Camping Trip

Skadi took her first camping trip over Memorial Day. She did GREAT! She slept 7-8 hours straight at night, and she didn't really get too cranky.

This first photo is at the end of the weekend, so she hadn't bathes in quite some time and she's looking all moutainy.

The second photo is of us on a hike. She can peek out of her ergo and look around (but I am looking forward to being able to put her on my back).

And the third photo is of Skadi chilling at the campsite. I added the fourth photo, just b/c it is so beautiful. It was a great weekend!

We were just given this chair by one of Mike's friends. So far, Skadi loves it!

Most pathetic thing ever

Maceo is definitely miserable. But he may be milking this whole thing too.

Poor poor Maceo

Maceo has had a rough spring. About a month ago, he and Mike and Skadi were out for a hike, when Maceo decided to charge downhill after a rabbit. He hit an berm going full speed downhill and ended up tearing all the ligaments in his front left wrist/ankle. He needed surgery, which he had yesterday. He spent last night at the doggy hospital and we picked him up this morning.

So here he is, resting in my office. His recovery period is LONG -- 3 months to recover physically, and then another few months to re-learn to use his front paw. So everyone send Maceo good thoughts and wishes!!!!

Skadi LOVES to read

We were home in Minnesota this weekend, and my sister got Baby Skadi a book called "In My Tree." We've read to Skadi in the past, but she never seemed really into it, so we sort of let it fall by the wayside. She was just too little to really pay any attention to the books.

Things have changed. Skadi LOVES books now. She was really enthralled by this book, as you can see by the photos. I think these photos are so funny -- she is really trying to figure out what is going on in the book. Needless to say, we'll be reading to her a lot from now on.

Shaved and cold Maceo

Maceo got shaved yesterday (his yearly summer shearing). He gets so cold when he is shaved, and he was so exhausted from the stress of being at the groomers all day. So we covered him up with a blanket and let him sleep the night away on the couch.

We love him so much.

BD Skadi

Skadi had a big day today. She got up and went climbing in her Black Diamond onesy. It's really hard to rock climb when you can barely hold up your head.
